Tiny Tribes on Facebook!

Overview

More detailed information about each room can be found in our nursery prospectus, which is available to you if you send an email to office@tinytribes.co.uk, but below is a brief overview of each room, and what you can expect your children to be doing whilst they enjoy their time with us.

Jelly Babies

Our Jelly Baby room has a 1:3 staff/child ratio and it’s large, bright and well ventilated. Our staff are aware that leaving your baby is a hard decision to make and aim to make you feel relaxed and confident that your baby is being cared for in the best possible way. We will provide you with a diary that the staff will fill out each day to inform you of the activities that they have enjoyed, and to keep a record of what they have eaten and when they have slept whilst with us. We have a large range of toys and activities to stimulate your babies development, and we also like to take the babies outside as often as possible, for walks or just for a play in the garden.

Also, the children also take part in Tiny Talk sessions, which are very popular baby sign group activities! During these sessions (which are on a Thursday morning, and provided at no extra cost) the children will join in with signing common requests like “more”, “finished” and “biscuits” (very important!) before moving onto more complex signs about their life, when they’re older!

Jelly Tots

The staff ratio in this room is 1:3 for under 2’s, and 1:4 for children aged over two. Jelly Tots has more of a structured routine than our baby room because as children grow older they thrive and can learn more effectively when they have routines. Our staff are flexible, however, and the routine will be adapted every day to suit individual children’s needs. In our Tots room children will be introduced to colours, shapes and numbers in a fun way, taking in to account the stage of development of each child.

We feel that going outside is vital to a child’s learning, so just like all of the other rooms, we aim to take our Jelly Tots outside as much as possible throughout the day. Rain or shine, sun hats or wellingtons, we’ll be making the most of our outdoor area. We will often go for walks around the local area, where we have a nearby park, and lots of animals for the children to see.

The children also take part in Tiny Talk sessions, which are very popular group signing activities! During these sessions (which are on a Thursday morning, and provided at no extra cost) the children will join in with signing more complex things like emotions, animals and colours to work alongside their speech.

Magic Stars

In our Magic Stars room, the ratio is 1:4 for children under three, and 1:8 for those over. In Magic Stars we encourage self-registration, hands on tasks and many more exciting activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage. In this room children will start to look at letters and sorting, and build upon the number, colour and shape recognition they have been learning as Jelly Tots.

In Magic Stars the children also take part in Pyjama Drama sessions. During these sessions (which are on a Monday morning, and provided at no extra cost) the children will join in with balancing, climbing, throwing, jumping and generally having lots of fun whilst furthering their physical development. As with the other rooms in the nursery, our Magic Stars will go outside several times throughout the day, so please remember a warm coat and appropriate footwear during the winter months!

Skittles (1 year before they start school)

Our pre-school room, Skittles, has a staff ratio of 1:8. The room is designed for the children who are spending their last year with us before the important transition to school. We have close links with all the local schools, and liaise with them on the best way to prepare the children for school. In this room the children are building on their letters and sounds during group time which will give them an insight in to how they will be learning at school.

In this room the children will enjoy a wide range of learning and activities including arts and crafts, cooking, gardening, construction, music and dance, role play – and even French lessons! The children also continue with the Pyjama Drama program they have been introduced to in Magic Stars but our main focus is school readiness.
